I’ve just updated our gallery with over 700 high-quality screen captures of Stella as Lili in her 2016 film Long Nights Short Mornings. The 2016 comedy-drama, also starring Shiloh Fernandez and Natalia Dyer, examines the romantic life of a young man in New York City and his sometimes fleeting, sometimes profound experiences with the women he encounters. Be sure to check the captures in our gallery!
Stella Maeve is a TV chameleon, from Chicago P.D. to Law & Order and even Golden Boy, the young 27-year-old actress is killing it in on the small screen.
Her latest role is a step away from the usual dramas we tend to see however. She plays Julia in Syfy’s The Magicians where she revealed all she could about season two of her hit show.
When trying to explain the basic premise of The Magicians, the young beauty struggled to find the right words, “Oh my gosh where to begin? It’s such a crazy trip! It’s based off this trilogy science fiction genre, which they’ve now adapted for television.”
She plays a very deep and complex character, “Julia [her character] starts out as this upper class, wealthy, straight-A intellectual. However, we then get to see this epic downfall and this tragic journey that this woman endures. She’s kind of like the girl we all went to school with, you think she has everything together but she doesn’t really.”
We are well into season 2 now so the budding actress shed some light on where her character is now after all her horrific and traumatizing experiences. “Season 2 is the journey of her coming back to herself, to figure out after all of those horrible things, how do I navigate and figure out who I am at the core of all of this? Is she driven from rage or fear, can she move forward? So yeah she goes through all these wacky quests to find herself.”
She said the show has some lighter moments but ultimately it’s getting deeper, “We get to play with moments of lightness but I definitely think it’s darker. Just when you think nothing worse can happen to her, it does. She’s sort of socially inept. The show is a great metaphor for life, it takes on genuine situations that people can relate to.”
Aside from The Magicians Stella has also dabbled in movies. She said the most enjoyable character she has ever played was a struggling young girl called Melissa. “My favourite was a character in Starlet, she was a porn star addicted to pain killers who lived in the San Fernando Valley. It was wonderful working with Sean Baker, he’s just one of the most amazing directors ever. I wouldn’t tell anyone to watch any of my work ever, except for this one film.”
With awards season in full swing the brunette beauty did admit she hasn’t been massively keeping up to date with it all but there is one film in particular that caught her eye. “I loved Nocturnal Animals, so incredible. I did feel like it was a cliff-hanger I did have that reaction but then I thought Kudos to them because that’s what life is, there are no definitive answers.”
Julia and Kady follow up on the contact Kady found that could help with the abortion, only there isn’t any possible abortion, not when the fetus inside Julia is not human. There’s not enough power to abort something like that, so instead, Julia’s uterus will have to be exorcised at the hefty cost of one million dollars…in gold. Luckily, Julia and Kady won’t have to worry about liquidating assets or raiding the nearest pawn shops in hopes of meeting their goal; they are, in fact, magicians and can utilize the talents they’ve honed to get the money without doing an obscene amount of leg work. But they can’t do it alone, not something like this that will have a million moving parts to take care of, so the two enlist Quentin, Penny, Margo, and Eliot to help them rob a local bank. Julia and Kady might have issues with some of their peers, but they need as many hands on deck right now as possible and if that means compartmentalizing some lingering annoyance and awkwardness, so be it. Yet even if the former friends are able to lift enough money from the bank to help pay for Julia’s exorcism, is there any hope that Julia and Kady will find a spell that can banish Reynard for good?
I’m so sorry for the lack of updates lately – but I’ve finally updated our gallery with pictures of Stella promoting “The Magicians” last month (January 19), when she attended the Build Speaker Series with the rest of the cast. She also visited ‘Hollywood Today Live‘ on February 10. I’ve also finally added high-quality outtakes of Stella’s portrait taken during last month’s 2017 NBCUniversal Winter Press Tour. Be sure to check everything in our gallery:
Check out below the official trailer of ‘Take the 10‘, in which Stella stars as Brooke. The movie will be available on Netflix US & Canada on January 20.
Two friends who are extremely prone to antics and hijinks obtain tickets to a music festival by questionable means. Naturally, everything goes according to plan and they have a totally normal time that definitely doesn’t involve drugs, sex, and Andy Samberg.
